What happens if my Stelo biosensor insertion causes bleeding?
For the insertion needle to reach the interstitial fluid (where it measures the glucose), it must penetrate the dermis layer of the skin, which has blood vessels scattered throughout. Penetrating the blood vessels can cause bleeding. Inserting the biosensor too deeply into the body can also cause bleeding. Be sure you aren’t using excess pressure when inserting your biosensor.
Seek medical attention if you feel medical intervention is necessary.
How can I try to avoid bleeding?
Proper Stelo biosensor insertion technique is important to prevent bleeding. When pressing the applicator button, the applicator should be resting on the surface of your skin. Press and hold applicator firmly against skin until clear safety guard is pushed in. Use your hand to steady the applicator when pressing the button. For more detail, please refer to the Stelo User Guide.
